"My Lord, Please Help Me"

There is a moment I feel the grace of God urging me to call to Him for deliverance from stress and frustration. I definitely cannot properly deal with frustrations on my own.

One of the things which really causes me stress right now is when my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son have another one of their unloving moments. Our pesky sinful nature can be witnessed very early on in life. As precious as he is, my son has a way of trying to take from or attacking (using various methods of scratching, headbutting, or hitting) his sister just for fun. As you can imagine this is not a pretty sight. A lot of the time my initial response, unfortunately, is stress (especially if this situation happened multiple times that day already). Knowing that I need to once again discipline can be exhausting if I loose sight of pleasing God at any moment.

The Lord is teaching me that these everyday stresses are actually fantastic opportunities to surrender to Him and grow.

By the grace of God, He delivers me from my own feelings. When I find myself in a stress overload, He reminds me to rely on Him to use the situation for His glory. Simply asking for His help during those moments (and always!) is a huge blessing. I'm so amazed when God gives me His peace. He is perfectly good, powerful and loving! He gives help to a mother's worn out heart who calls out to Him. It is a beautiful thing to feel His grace and love.

Going directly to the Lord is amazing because He gives me the peace, strength and wisdom I need to discipline my children in a God pleasing way. His help comes when I rely on Him, totally looking away from my own fleshly emotions and ways of dealing with things. My prayer is that I go to Him quickly and constantly in everyday situations, such as training my little ones to be selflessly loving to each other. The desire of my heart is to be used for the glory of my awesome God. I look forward to growing more Christlike only because of His grace!

Philippians 4:6-8
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

  1. These verses are favorites of mine and I could totally take over your comments talking about them, lol! But I won't! I just use Phil. 4:8 to remind myself to focus and think TRUTH when my thoughts would turn to anxious ones or negative ones if left on their own.

    (BTW, your children are adorable!)

"His help comes when I rely on Him, totally looking away from my own fleshly emotions and ways of dealing with things." I love what you said here. So true, because if I'm relying on me then how can I rely on Him?
